NaPiBoWriWee Is Kicking My Butt!!

Today is Day 6 of NaPiBoWriWee. Don't even ask me where Day 3,4 & 5 went. Up until I started typing this I thought we were on Day 5.

Today, I have only 2 and a half picture book manuscripts written. NaPiBoWriWee is kicking my butt. But that's ok because I still have two manuscripts to work on if nothing else.

What happened? Well, my excuse is lack of sleep. I had a sick baby for 2 weeks prior to NaPiBoWriWee starting and I didn't get much sleep. I can't do much writing until the kids go to bed and this week I have been going to bed right after them. I just can't stay awake.

I'm going to continue to try to write more manuscripts this week and see where it takes me. If I don't get all 7 done this week I might extend NaPiBoWriWee and change the name to NaPiBoWri2Wee for myself (I can do that right?)

I'm sure you're all feeling the pressure, too. Let me know how you're doing. Are you having better luck or are we in the same boat?

As of now, I have 3 finished picture book drafts, one almost finished draft, and one halfway done draft that I bagged with heavy stones and tossed in the virtual Hudson. To complicate things, my parents are coming to visit tonight and staying through the weekend. So I love the idea of NaPiBoWri2Wee as a fall back plan. I'm determined to finish, but I might be a bit late crossing the line. :)

I'm metres (minutes) from the finish as I type this - dithering now. It's great to say I've finished 7 PBs in 7 days - but some of them are really PBs in name only. Token gestures to get me there. I ended up putting my special stories to the side because I didn't have to time to devote to them, and didn't want to fall out of love by trying to force them.

I think ANYTHING you have done is great. The new friends have been a very real bonus for me!

Laura,

Those pecky parents! How dare they get in the way of your writing. LOL

Last year I had a couple of manuscripts that were written but never revised. The were real 'vomit drafts' as Paula Yoo would put it.

Nothing wrong crossing the finish line late. I'll be right behind you. :)

Katswhiskers,

Congratulations on getting 7 PB done in 7 days. Those PB in name only might grow to be something special. They may have helped you sprout a new idea so don't be quick to put them down. They still count.

Yes, I like to give my ms the time deserve, too, and I think that was my hurdle this week. I should have just put something on the page each day no matter how small. Anyway, I plan to finish them, just not this week.

Yes, new writer friends is a bonus of NaPiBoWriWee. I have friends from last year's event who I still keep in contact with.

In case you didn't guess by the huge flag on my blog, I am in Canada which means I still have several hours of May 7th left to try to fit in another manuscript. So I'm going back to work.
